Food Sensitivities

Why test for food sensitivities?

Testing for food sensitivities can offer valuable insight into the cause of many diverse symptoms. We may not think of a headache, a consistently runny nose, an inability to concentrate, depression, joint aches or weight gain as symptoms relating to our diet. However, all of these symptoms along with many more such as gastro intestinal distress, diarrhea, constipation, dry skin, rashes, hyperactivity and fatigue can all be symptoms of a food intolerance.

Sensitivities or intolerances are different from true allergies in that they do not always provoke an immune response but they provoke symptoms that can interfere with normal living. A quick and painless 45 minute test you can identify which foods may be causing an issue for you. Removing these foods for a time can help alleviate symptoms and allow for healing. In some cases a period of avoidance can even help reinstate some tolerance to the same foods.

What is Electrodermal Screening?

It is a painless way to determine the body’s tolerance to a wide variety of substances. Foods, chemicals, environmental allergens, heavy metals, parasites, viruses, bacteria, hormones, vitamins and minerals can all be tested.

Based on the work of Dr. Roy Curtain, an electromagnetic frequency which corresponds to the substance being tested is run through the body along acupuncture meridians. You will hold a brass rod in one hand and the tester will touch another brass probe to acupuncture points on the hands and feet. The current generated is a constant 2.4 volts, similar to an EKG. Most people feel nothing at all. A very few feel a little tingle or a little fatigued afterwards.

The body’s ability to conduct each signal is scored on a scale between 0-100 and this tells us whether the body is in balance, stressed or weakened by that substance.

Who can take this test?

This test is available to people of any age and health condition. As such it is the perfect way to test sensitivities in children. The only exception is that it may not be suitable for those with an implanted pacemaker.

How do I prepare for the testing?

Eat and drink normally. Make sure you are well hydrated. Do not apply lotion to the hands or feet on the day of the test. Immediately before the test, you will be asked to remove all jewelry, electronics, watches. If it is a child being tested, it is helpful to bring along a video on a computer or tablet for them to watch during the test.
